Company Information

The Coleman company has been around since 1900 and has historicly been associated with the camping and outdoor products industry. In 1987 Coleman established its generator division into a seperate subsidary and incorporated into it a new accquisition "Ag-Tronic" which was an established producer of farm generator equipment. The new subsidary was named Powermate® and continued operations as a seperate subsidary after the 1998 acquisition of the Coleman company by the Sunbeam Corporation. In 2000 Coleman Powermate established a new Division and launched the PowerStation® emergency backup power systems product line.

Sunbeam Corporation filed for bankruptcy protection in February 2001 and was subsequently purchased by American Household Inc. (AHI), a privately held corporation. In January of 2005 Jarden Corporation (NYSE: JAH), a leading provider of niche branded consumer products, acquired American Household, Inc. for $745.6 million in cash for the equity and the assumption or repayment of indebtedness. American Household is the parent of The Coleman Company, Inc. and Sunbeam Products, Inc., leading producers of global consumer products through the BRK®, Campingaz®, Coleman®, First Alert®, Health o meter®, Mr. Coffee®, Oster® and Sunbeam® brands.

Jarden Corporation is a global provider of market leading branded consumer products used in and around the home marketed under many well-known global brand names. Jarden operates through four business segments: Branded Consumables, Consumer Solutions, Outdoor Solutions and Other. Headquartered in Rye, NY, Jarden has over 9,000 employees worldwide and produced aproximately $840 million in sales as reported in their 2004 annual report.

It is expected that Coleman Powermate® and PowerStation® will continue to be operated as a profitable subsidary within the Jarden Corporation.
